Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to children with special educational needs, both one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and strategies to promote learning and development.
  • Work closely with the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), teachers, and other professionals to ensure individual needs are met.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural needs, promoting their confidence and independence.
  • Assist with classroom activities, adapting resources and materials to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Help maintain accurate records of progress and provide feedback to the SENCo and teaching staff.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Caring and Supportive: Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
  • Experienced: Previous experience in a similar role or working with children with SEN is desirable.
  • Knowledgeable: Understanding of different special educational needs and strategies to support them.
  • Adaptable: Able to respond to the individual needs of children and adapt approaches as required.
  • Team-Oriented: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Professional: Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or SEN-specific training.
